Color forecasting is a fascinating subject to us designers. We look forward to the “official” color forecast or as Pantone calls it the “Color of the Year”. The Pantone Color of the Year strongly dictates the trends in interior design and fashion for the New Year upon us. For 2015 Pantone has designated the official Color of the Year to be Marsala which they describe as “A naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies and souls.”
We recently attended the 2015 color forecasting hosted by Sherwin Williams at the Dal Tile showroom in Anaheim and most recently the Benjamin Moore color presentation at the Walker Zanger showroom in Tustin. Both seminars were extremely informative, always inspiring and so invigorating to see what is new on the horizon for the year head.
The most popular trend for 2015 seems to be copper hues. I love the concept of mixing metals and this seems to be what is super-hot this coming year. Another popular movement you will start to see is mixing pastels with nature inspired elements. This look is soft, relaxing and calming and this trend will be showcased in a many different textiles. We have had a few fabric reviews recently and nature-inspired is the palate that is consistent in many lines.
We just love this time of year, as it is magical celebrating the holidays and so much hope, creativity and opportunity in the New Year to come.
