I have always had an obsession with chairs! I love to collect vintage chairs and repurpose them and make them like new with a fun twist, depending on my mood and feel of the chairs.
When I learned about the up-coming ASID Chairs for Charity event I knew this was a cause that I needed to participate in. This will be a special event for many reasons. Not only will it be fun to see all of the artistically designed chairs by 25 design professionals, each with their own unique concept, but more importantly, all proceeds (auction bids and admittance tickets) will benefit the renovation of the Orange County Ronald McDonald House.
For those of you who may not be familiar with Ronald McDonald House Charities, they are an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is “to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and wellbeing of children.” This extraordinary charity strives to help keep sick children surrounded by their family and help lessen the burden of the family during difficult times. They make an impact on nearly nine million families each and every year and now have local chapters in 62 countries and regions across the world. It all began in 1974 with the opening of the first Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia.
May 21st the chair that I am designing will be on display at the Orange County Museum of Art and you will have a chance to bid on this creation designed by Yours Truly and crafted by the one and only Judy’s Custom Workroom.
