What is more fabulous on Thanksgiving other than abundance of food, great friends and family? Well, you must know by now my favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal is the planning and décor. I love making lists and doing my research on the most delicious menu ideas and what will make my dining table the foreground of the delicious meal I am planning to serve for my beloved guests.
Many of you know my deep love for entertaining and table décor. Truly, these details in my planning come straight from my heart. I guess you can say cooking and entertaining is my love language. This year we will be celebrating Thanksgiving in Fort Worth, Texas with my sweet daughter Haley. Haley and I will be sharing our love for cooking together as we will host her few college besties, their parents and of course my hubby, George. This will be Haley’s first Thanksgiving hosting and I can’t wait to be her sous chef.
Of course, I cannot help but make a list or two (or three) of recipes I would like to try and how we can decorate for this special day. I like to do a process of elimination to help me arrive at, what I consider - a perfect menu.
I have a few décor ideas I would love to share and a secret tip I love to do to make my table extra special.
As we all know, entertaining can be expensive. I believe that there are splurge items you cannot skimp on. Many of these are details that come straight from the heart that really only take time to reflect on. One of my favorite details on the decorated dining table is the name place card. Sometimes I like to clip herbs from my herb garden and tie them together with twine to a simple note card. My most favorite place card idea is taking a simple place card and writing the guest’s name and one thing I love about that guest and why. I love tying these heartfelt cards to a pumpkin with twine and placing them on each place setting. My guests love this too.
This Year I am inspired by copper, paprika and teal hues for my Thanksgiving table.
We would love to share a few of our favorite “make-ahead” table décor ideas with you and Ina Garten’s make ahead Turkey from her latest cook book along with a yummy cocktail idea to delight your guest while you are in the kitchen cooking your heart out!
Happy Designing & Happy Thanksgiving!
