One of my favorite things to do is to taste all the flavors I can while traveling in new places. A tradition I have started with my sister, Amy, is to try a bite, small plate or course at several different restaurants to get the full dining experience of a new city. We like to call it progressive dining. Haley and I had a mini getaway over Mother's Day weekend in Boston, where my sister lives. We started our day with some hot yoga so we could justify our dining journey. I love unique, boutique style restaurants that are non-touristy and have a specialty menu. We started our tasting at a fabulous, hip and well-designed place called Puritan. The menu had a delightful libation selection among interesting course offerings. We shared an asparagus, Thai flavored lobster bisque and lamb prepared two ways. This was a bit more of a "tasting" but for a party of three the plates were small and absolutely delicious! The farm fresh peas and heirloom carrots tasted as if they were straight from the garden. Yum! Our next stop was Trattoria di Monica. We have visited this charming nine table "off the beat" restaurant before and yes it was so good we came back to the North End just to give this place another try. We shared a plate of herbed ricotta squash blossoms and risotto with five different types of mushrooms-amazing! Let's not forget it was a champagne kind of day so of course we indulged in my favorite drink of choice! Off to a new place; a speakeasy inspired, eight table place. Wow! This restaurant was so cool! Super fun decor, hand crafted cocktails, custom infused liquor and a limited yet interesting menu. We finished our dining with lobster ravioli's topped with uni- stop it already! The flavors were out of this world! If you have not experienced the North End, aka little Italy, standing in line for an authentic cannoli or lobster tail at Mike's Pastry is the place to be. I could not eat another bite but I thoroughly enjoyed looking at the beautiful pastries! We had a super fun time visiting my baby sister, lovely weather and delicious food in charming Boston this weekend!
Happy travels! Xo,
