it's starting to come together!

Many of you have been anxiously awaiting an update on the re-style project for Brannon and Allison, the young couple that received a Sérendipité design box back in December for their great room and master retreat. The progress is coming along nicely and we have much to report! Unlike on television, in real life the design process takes more than 24 to 48 hours and all of the planning and preparation is often left out of those 30 min episodes. We cannot reveal too much as we want to keep some things a surprise for the big reveal but here is just a tiny sneak peak of what we have been working on for the past 3 months.

We have boxes! It feels like Christmas at the Sérendipité Design Parlour with deliveries being made daily. It is so exciting to finally start receiving the items that have been ordered for clients weeks and sometimes even months before. It means the big day is almost here! With two big installs scheduled for the end of February, our storage facility is overflowing and many of those items belong to Brannon and Allison.

Scheduling is a big factor in design and making the big reveal come together smoothly. This week we have two contractors in the Spaulding's home providing us with their expertise and beautiful workmanship. Yesterday we had the painters transforming the walls and it’s truly amazing how a fresh coat of paint can transform a space so quickly. The home already feels renewed and energized! Friday a millworker/handy man is installing a custom built-in cabinet and hanging the new dining room chandelier which is sure to make an elegant statement.

Yesterday we sat down with Allison and out of hundreds of beautiful photographs from the couple’s engagement, wedding and honeymoon narrowed it down to just eight to be printed and framed to create two featured story walls. A piece of art that has sentimental value to the couple is also being spruced up with a frame for impact. After leaving Brannon and Allison’s home we stopped by my favorite antique salvage store where we picked out this cute demi lune table (which is being refinished in a Chinese red with a new top) for the couple’s front entry.

The week ahead is already a busy one with lots of shopping to do and finishing touches to take care of. We will be looking for beautiful bedding to complement the custom pillows that will adorn the couple’s bed and the perfect accessories to complete both the great room and the master retreat. The custom draperies and furnishings will be delivered the day of the install. So exciting!! Stay tuned for the BIG reveal, which will take place in two weeks!

Happy Designing!
